My new bride is a novice skier East Coast and is really more into the Carribean, but is willing to go West! Which resort is better for us? Haven't been to Bbreckenridge. Think relaxed, steamboat springs vs breckenridge floor western charm.

Probably because it gets lots of inexperienced skiers on crowded runs. Our trip to Steamboat was right after Christmas January 5thth and yes, it was beautiful, especially near the ski runs--there were little white lights everywhere. An intermediate mountain with fun and "accessible" tree skiing wear a helmet! Yes, further out, but the drive out is gorgeous and the overall vibe of the town is not as busy and hectic.

Breck is great because it is fun, youthful, and a great town with good food I know you are not an advance skier, so perhaps the wind is not as bad lower down on the slopes, but it is usually always colder in Breck, and when I am cold, I am not happy. You won't regret it! Breck is a fun town, but Steamboat has better skiing and less crowds.

Thanks a lot for the comments! You won't complain about either being from the midwest like I am. We did Steamboat last year and stayed at Breck for 5 days at the beginning of Febuary this year. To break it up we skied 2 days at Breck, one at Vail and one at Beaver Creek. It's nice to have choices that are close to each other.
