Comment by Affiniti The minimum fishing skill requirement that existed in Vanilla also exists in Classic. Comment by bipolargirl I'm curious if the time it takes to gain one point on your fishing skill varies by area.

For example, my fishing skill is I'm fishing in Desolace and it seems I get one fishing level for every 5 fish caught. What if I went to a lower level area? Would I get one point per fish? Or less cause it's easier? What if I went to a higher level zone? How does that factor in? Comment by radlance awful skill range for the zones table, the only thing that is most important in fishing guide.

Comment by shinbou I just wanted to add that the guide suggests to fish in Ironforge but for some reason, you are unable to fish in Ironforge.

You were able to fish in Forlorn Caverns back in the day but today I came there and it said there are no fish. Comment by Icesabar Is there a listed of what fish type will give a greater percentage of skill increase based on your current level?

Fishing an area lets say from to is pretty vague. It would be nice to see something like try to fish for Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish - then fish for Raw Mithril Head Trout from - , as an example.

Comment by musclefollower My comments on leveling from in a two night marathon after getting the Nat Fishing Buddy Manila 550 Pagle, Angler Extreme quest: I already had my Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC fishing cane to make it easier, got a stack of 20 x Bright Baubles and thanks to my alt engineer a good stack of 15 x Aquadynamic Fish Attractor Because if you go to The Twin Colossals, there you can lvl from to easily in that little pond on the side of the road where Rexxar disappears, and then just walk a few yards up the road and get to the Jademir Lake area to level the rest up to One advantage there is that in both places you will get Raw Sunscale Salmon and Raw Nightfin Snapper if you pick the 6pmam server time range for example, when both fish are available at the same time.

And different to many coasts or rivers, there will be no critters to bother you while you fish like crocs or murlocs They'll kill you in just one hit. I did this with my lvl 59 hunter. Twin Colossals: I stayed there fishing using the FC with baubles until I hit , because once I moved to the higher level area I needed to maximize the use of the Aquadynamic lures due to their shorter duration. Once you hit , move to the Jademir Lake, and you must use the Aquadynamic Fish Attractor all the way to at least , or it will all be fail, fail, fail every time that you throw the line.

Once you hit you will be able to use the baubles. Don't worry if you see many "Your fish got away" in a row and this will happen for both the baubles and the attractors. The server seems to try to annoy you to see if you quit.

Just keep going and it will come back to give you your catch. See that these last two fish are not for cooking. I was lucky that I got more Plated Armorfish than needed while leveling up to , and I only got short of 1 eel to complete the Comment by davedwtho Why is Old Man Heming described as being "near the docks"?

It's Booty Bay, it's all docks. He's actually far from where you get off the boat, down near the auction house and bank. Comment by KnightTime Going to share my own experience with the final push from to The only issue is trying to fish Jademir Lake too early and getting many "lost fish" casts skill for no "get-aways".

As an added bonus, one of the six Patch of Elemental Water in the zone is fishable with the lower skill requirement non-Bay of Storms , so I fished next to that spawn point. The patches allow casts including get-aways with a chance at 1 Essence of Water , Elemental Water , or Globe of Water per catch, and each patch has its own respawn timer ranging from hours. So, to the results! Not shabby at all while leveling fishing skill - and yields will be even better in the Bay of Storms, now that I am max level.

One last general comment about fishing and frequency of skill increase: as a rule of thumb, divide your skill level by 25, then subtract 2 - this will be the number of catches ON AVERAGE that it will take to skill up minimum of 1 catch, maximum of RNG may get it one or on rare occasion two catches earlier, or maybe one catch later.

Comment by Veradas I just started fishing in the lake surrounding Astranaar and I keep losing the fish one after another. My fishing lvl is What am I doing wrong? I usually played poker in the background while listen for the sound. Made fishing go by very quickly. At 53 in, I caught the mount! I had fishing of course. The only advice I can give is to NOT give up. If I can get it, anyone can.

Comment by Finally got this today My wife and I were both going after it, she has been fishing for about 3 hours straight. I get on and fish about Wow Addons Fishing Buddy Java casts and BOOM, it's mine. Needless to say, I'm in the doghouse now, but happy hunting. Comment by Jonner Have anyone fished this up in Dalaran?

Comment by Is it possible to fish it up in Wintergrasp or Dalaran? Comment by There aren't any pools in Dalaran as far as I am aware of So I am guessing you can not fish this in Dalaran. Although it would be nice to kill two birds with one stone. Comment by Note! Comment by Yay! Got this today at Lake Kum' uya in Borean Tundra, approx coords 52, Comment by Been fishing this thing forever and just want to clarify: so I am only to fish in schools of fish in northrend?

Only lakes and small bodies of water? I'm confused and worried im wasting time. Comment by captinron Anyone have luck in Wintergrasp getting this? Will update on my efforts, only fish so far. Happy Fishing By vandarose 3 days ago Patch 3. Caught it after fishing my 3rd Mussleback Sculpin school of fish. Comment by i just started to fish with my warlock and went to do the daily fishing. Comment by Great A'tuin! Comment by The Greeks put Atlas in the turtle's place. Comment by Just want to point out that you can get the mount from the frozen sea, as this is where I got mine was fishing from a monsterbelly pool while doing the severed arm daily.

Thanks for reading, responding, whatever. Shadowftw, level 24 holy Priest Anvilmar server. Comment by No I don't believe it can be fished from the coast, has to be inland. Comment by Martacus " After conducting a lecture on the solar system, William James, the American psychologist and philosopher, was approached by an elderly lady.

Comment by 82Stang I just got my achievement while farming mats for Fish Feasts. I got mine while fishing nettlefish pools in Sholozar basin at around AM on the Fizzcrank server.

Good luck to everyone still trying to get this one! Edit: Oh yeah I caught it in the big lake that's between the glimmering pillar and the maker's pearch around coordinate 43, Comment by false. At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: "What you have told us is rubbish.

Comment by well if anyone finds a bug for this one hit me up cuz i gotta know it Comment by Hashupa I couldn't find this anywhere, but you get the achievement once you loot the Sea Turtle, not when you catch it.

Comment by I just fished mine up. About a week ago i made it my mission to get this. I installed fishing buddy to keep track of my total casts. It took me casts to get it. I spent about 3 hours per day over the course of 5 days. Only fish in pools. Be patient. Watch films. Never give up. And it will be yours. But it is one, long, boring grind.

Sidenote - I did this alongside One that didnt get away achieve, which took me casts roughly to get, and after casts i had both achieves :. Comment by theserf I gave up on trying to get this but I continue to do the fishing dailies. I fished the turtle up while doing the Monsterbelly Appetite daily.

It dropped on first cast in a school of Deep Sea Monsterbelly. Comment by I finally picked up the Sea Turtle mount after months of trying, at level When 3. I stuck to the three Howling Fjord pools near the docks, two of which regenerate fairly quickly.

I was killed numerous times by Orcas, twice by "friendly" crabs I had accidentally right-clicked, and several times by various humanoids during an ill-fated venture from Howling Fjord to the Tuskar villages. To be fair, I didn't fish continuously for the sea turtle, as the cycle of casting and clicking got super-boring after a while. After burning out on Northrend fishing, I visited Dalaran for the Coin Master achievement, and continued competing in the weekly Master Angler of Stranglethorn until I picked up the hook , the pole and all three rare fish prizes.

I recently went back to Northrend to try for the mount again and finally got him this time in a Howling Fjord pool. I never want to fish again. Comment by A woman said to a scientist, "I don't get all this evolution stuff, everybody knows that the universe sits on the back of a giant turtle".

To which the scientist replied, "Well, then what is below the turtle? The woman cracks a smile and says, "Oh no! You're not fooling me!

It's turtles all the way down! Comment by Smobu Oh yeah! Good Luck! Comment by I noticed today that a Pool of Blood will show up as a school of fish on the minimap when tracking these. Could this mean that you could get a turtle from one of them? Absolutely worth reading.

Comment by ramh Do you need a certain level of fishing before you can fish up the turtle? Comment by I got really lucky. I had just finished doing the fishing daily for monsterbelly and I had read a comment somewhere that in the frozen sea is where you could get the achievement.

About 3 casts after i got the monsterbelly I got the achievement and nearly jumped out of my seat in shock! I was lvl or so with a level booster. I was off the coast of Borean Tundra in the frozen sea on a glacier. Comment by Forget all the chatter about the frozen sea and inland water. By "pools" it means the things that show up on your minimap when you have Find Fish activated. You can fish it from any "pool" found in any body of water in Northrend. Comment by Since this is a folklore story told the world around, I will link it to the page which I can remember seeing it.

I've been looking for the earliest version of this "turtles all the way down" story. What source does Hendrickson give? I have been told that the story appeared in the preface to a dissertation written at MIT in about , by J. In Hawking's version however, it was A well-known scientist some say it was Bertrand Russell once gave a public lecture on astronomy. William James did write at least once about turtles and elephants. In "Humanism and Truth", Mind 13 N. Must not something end by supporting itself?

Had the poor Indian philosopher who imagined that the earth also wanted something to bear it up but thought of this word substance, he needed not to have been at the trouble to find an elephant to support it, and a tortoise to support his elephant: the word substance would have done it effectually. And he that inquired might have taken it for as good an answer from an Indian philosopher,- that substance, without knowing what it is, is that which supports the earth, as we take it for a sufficient answer and good doctrine from our European philosophers,- that substance, without knowing what it is, is that which supports accidents.

If any one should be asked, what is the subject wherein colour or weight inheres, he would have nothing to say, but the solid extended parts; and if he were demanded, what is it that solidity and extension adhere in, he would not be in a much better case than the Indian before mentioned who, saying that the world was supported by a great elephant, was asked what the elephant rested on; to which his answer was- a great tortoise: but being again pressed to know what gave support to the broad-backed tortoise, replied-something, he knew not what.

There's no snappy retort about "turtles all the way down" in these passages however. It seems to me that a story about William James or Bertrand Russell cannot first have been told in Comment by I created an account on WoWhead just to say thanks for the Discworld reference.

Comment by saschavykos Just want to add my little bit. Got this not five minutes ago while fishing in Borean Tundra. I finally managed to max out my cooking skill and was gathering fishies for Fish Feast. I decided, as I was in Stormwind that I would start with Musselfin as they were closest.

I packed my rod and some lures and caught the boat to Valiance Keep and flew up to Lake Kum'uya ready for a long and boring fishing trip. I circled the lake 3 times fishing each pool till it dissappeared before venturing on to the next one. My computer is old and kinda rubbish so each time I fish up something that is not a fish, it sticks for a few seconds before it lets me carry on. Many times did it stick and I waited patiently to see what junk I had fished up this time.

My guild are hungry for Guru's Elixirs too so the random Pygmy Suckerfish was not an unwelcome addition. I clicked the bobber quickly so as not to let my Musselfin escape. Can be found in any of the fishing pools in Northrend that includes the Frozen Sea ones and the Pools of Blood created for the fishing daily Blood is Thicker. Also the space bar action makes this little cutie jump and then hide inside his shell.

Comment by A great time to get this achevement is on days where your fishing daily is Monsterbelly Appetite. Moonglow Cuttlefish fish nodes respawn like crazy so you're not wasting your lures between fishing points. Comment by A few days ago I decided to farm for this mount, deciding that the fact that it's the only current sea mount in the game as my main motivation.

It would also bring me closer to the Mountain O' Mounts achievement. And since I sometimes boost low level friends on slow mounts, it's kinda fun to have a rare mount for me to ride and for them to easily keep up with ; I started my farming process in Howling Fjord in that big lake south-west of Camp Winterhoof.

There are lots of Fangtooth Herring fishing schools there, and they respawn fairly quickly. I also applied a Glow Worm on my fishing pole every hour.

For the first 3 hours it was kinda fun. I kept flying around the lake in a counter-clockwise pattern and found the experience rather relaxing. But after 3 hours it started to get annoying I tried to change my pattern to clockwise, kept switching little pets and mounts out to try and amuse myself, took breaks to cook all the fish that I caught, etc.

I was thinking to myself "is this really worth it? I hate fishing! I am never fishing again after this! As I was nearing the 6 hour mark of my journey I stopped for a break and looked at my achievements, especially those under Fishing. On a whim, I decided to 'Track' this achievement. Now, I don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but right after I did that the first time I tried to fish yes, the very first! I actually caught it! I couldn't believe it.

I don't know if tracking the achievement made it happen for me, or if it was just luck, but that's when I got it! True story. If anybody else is doing this, try it and see if it works for you, too.

I sure hope so! And I hope this information is helpful to anybody else trying to do this tedious task :P. Comment by over things fished, over fishes caught, over 2 months grinding. Or if it is, then is not random experiment, or im most unlucky on earth heh. Comment by got it! Comment by Well after I read all comments on how to get this mount from all of you, I said to hell with randomly fishing in open water to skill up and I went fishing for the mount.

I'm glad that i did cause after about min I cought my mount in grizzly hills with a fishing skill of Now from the coast theres a river that ties into dragonblight, grizzly hills, and zul'drak. I took that lake and turn right on to another streem and fished in a school of glacial salmon that was located above the first " i " in the name grizzly hills displayed on your map.

Only fished up in the actual fishing "node" pools, not lakes or rivers or open sea. Comment by just to show the random nature of random chances I got this achievement before I got things fished achievment Some people win the lottery Comment by I can personally confirm it does still exist, and it is still an achieveable item Saw the blue loot in the window and before i realised what it was up pops the achievement!

Not that it really matters but I was fishing from Musselback Sculpin schools at the lake south-east from Amber Ledge. Take your time, patience is a virtue. One day she will be yours. Comment by Intresting thing, really don't know if it just luck.

Then my freand say "try to catch turtle, someone told that after Herring you can catch turtle in 30 minutes". Why not says I and continue fishing. And 10 minutes later I get my turtle xD. Comment by I spent 5 evenings fishing the schools of fish in the Frozen Sea in Borean Tundra in search of this extremely rare Sea Turtle mount.

I did a lot of research looking into several things. First i read a post which said fishing off the banks will not get you the turtle, and that you must fish in the "Schools" of fish.

I had earned my fishing pole from the Kulak and received the fishing hat from doing fishing dailies in Northrend. Yes i used lures too just the bright baubles, though. Earned fish Don't Leave Footprints to be able to spot the "Schools" faster. My cords were A few things you need to know: 1.

Make sure you keep some open space in your bags. Once your bag is full of fish stop fishing and fly to a mailbox mail the fish to your alts or sell them in the auction house or to a vendor. If you catch a turtle and ur bags are full you will not be able to loot the item unless u destroy fish, avoid that mistake. It could be along time till you catch another one! If you want to take a break and relax fishing is good. I enjoyed fishing for turtle to relax before raid times in Icecrown Citadel.

I wish all alliance the best in catching this mount! Comment by Just flew to Sholazar to do the fishing daily on a crappy alt there. Semi-AFK, I casted with my amazing fishing skill.

The irony is I've been trying to get the bear on my main for the better part of a year and have tried farming the turtle for a long time. Comment by I agree. Lake Kuma ya or whatever in Borean tundra is indeed the best place to fish this turtle. I got him within an hour there. I'm not saying it has an inscreased drop rate there but it is definately a simple place to fish. I named him yurtle. Took 22 minutes to get the turtle. Lucky me as I just previously got the Giant Sewer Rat in under 30 casts!

Comment by Just did the achievement: Took me about casts, I also did it in Borean Tundra Lake Kum'uya like many of the other posters did. Not very hard though.

Greetz Fedono-Gorgonnash EU. Comment by Xaviiara I've been fishing all over Northrend in pools, and still haven't got it after casts Just my bad luck I guess :.

Comment by You all are probably going to hate me but i got this within 40 minutes of fishing in the Borean Tundra. I was fishing from a manta school along derelict strand, and this baby popped up- i almost had a heart attack! Don't believe me? Comment by I found the best place to fish for this are the Glassfin Pools right under Dalaran.

The pools spawn fast and are all clamped up. There can be multiple fishers without being overfarmed. I have been fishing here for 8 days, each day about 30min before raiding etc. Just yesterday i had given up on catching the damn turtle, flying over to Grizzly Hills to farm some food.

Ding, first cast the turtle : So just keep fishing every now and then, you will get it when you expect it the least. Comment by cywang86 Pygmy Suckerfish are considered "things". Comment by Comment by Draste Here I go again. I'm chasing my tail around the sun. Standing beneath a tortoise under an elephant under the world. The gravity of the battle means nothing to those at peace.

I can't believe I thought my thoughts meant anything. Comment by doodlehacker You're never garunteed anything. You could fish 1,,,, times and never recieve it. I would add that you would most certainly be the most unluckiest person in the world of warcraft , and quite possibly the only one. But It is possible to never recieve the item, none the less.

The only way to garuntee a drop, is too fish infinite times, which is impossible since you can never finish fishing infinite times. A much pointless reply, but needed for that one person who might have fished 1,,,, times and read this. So instead of "You will catch it eventually. Comment by Ok, 2 of my guildies and I had just made the bet, that the first person to fish it up, the other 2 would have to pay g. I caught it 29 casts later And yes, I collected the money too :.

Comment by nguyenhothanh Really good spot! Even though I had in Fishing Skill, it took just over casts to get this. And it sure was worth it!

Comment by There is a nice lake there called "Lake Kum'uya" Comment by So I just got incredibly lucky and fished up this mount, because I was so lucky thought I'd clarify a few things, you don't need maxed fishing skill to fish up this item. I was at fishing skill just fishing from schools going for the Northrend Angler achievement.

I did not have a fishing lure on my pole at the time so it just takes some intense luck to get this mount. I was there for dark herring for rare fish achievement and also this one, i god it after maybe casts in that area. Still no rare fish tho. Comment by i have fished fish but no turtle Comment by gamerfan79 I ended up getting this the other day on my 68 shammy with skill in fishing and a Strong Fishing rod with No Lure on the first pool i fished in a Borean Man O'war pool so i don't think there is any certain fishing Level you need to get this item.

Comment by As a priest, I use Glyph of Levitate mostly for the purpose of fishing. Especially out in the frozen sea. Very handy when you're gathering so much fish, that you need every extra bag slot you can get. The only thing handier would be the ability for my mount to walk on water.

It's one of the few skills with any randomness. Save for certain patterns that have random buffs. I've fished several thousand fish trying to get this turtle, and the underbelly giant rat, and the coins in the fountain. Still trying though!

Comment by ever since I was a little boy, I've wanted to join the turtle club turrrtle. Comment by kemikalkadet The only thing handier would be the ability for my mount to walk on water.

Comment by Scourgebane Got this today after about an hour of farming at PM, yesterday i farmed for Hours. Comment by ragnafrak I just downloaded 3 hours of WoW podcasts to sit and farm the Glassfin Minnow pools below Dal to farm this mount and got it in less than 15 minutes. I've fished up and a lot of junk also Dragonfins so far, and never caught it.. Guess I'm a lucky one! Comment by Eoweniel Well whaddya know.

I decided to try for some fishing achieves yesterday, so I thought I should probably give this notorious Dark herring a shot Said and done, I went to Howling fjord, the lakes and rivers surrounding Skorn I figured I'd do this since I had a shot at two achievements in one go. I also went in with the attitude that I'd most likely be spending weeks fishing here After 2 or 3 stacks of Fangtooth herring I got the turtle!

I freaked out! It was completely unexpected Anyway, I really recommend this place around Skorn because, by the time you make your way around the whole place you can make your circle smaller, don't have to go around all the rivers and lakes , everything has respawned.

So even if there are several people fishing, there won't be many problems finding nodes. Plus, you work towards 2 achievements in one go! Listen to music while doing this, because it can be quite a drag. Just turn up the radio, or some playlist, or watch some show or play a not-too-distracting game, really helps make this less tedious.

Also have another theory, since most people I've talked to said they got the Dark herring times by now, but never saw the turtle drop My theory is that either you get lucky with the turtle, or with one of the rare fish for "One that didn't get away".

This thing is adorable btw, totally would have fished for it for weeks if I had to. Comment by Fenros After reading through all of the comments thoroughly, I haven't found a single one that which decisively states whether this item must be fished up from a fishing node , or if it can simply be acquired from casting aimlessly into a body of water.

Can someone please confirm or deny? Comment by This is not to gloat though I was more than shocked and greatly pleased , but I received this mount on my second pool in Northrend attempting to finish Northrend Angler.

Great luck to everyone and may the force be with you! Thanks for the bad luck Blizz Comment by Gervig Another achievement to get Here goes 3 weeks of my life.

As many people have said I simply made circles around Lake Kum'uya and in under an hours worth of work tada! Comment by So, at first I went to Lake Kum'uya. At first I did a full circuit of the fjord, going counter clockwise and ensuring not Pontoon Tracker Fishing Boat 35 to miss a single school. No dice. I was also being shadowed by a few other 80s so I decided it was time to pick a spot in the fjord and stick to it. Comment by socalheel no joke, i got this achievement in 32 casts. Comment by I hate this achievement.

After I won the Kaluak Fishing Derby on my main some weeks ago, I decided to do this on my priest from now on. And guess what happened? Right, I got the damn turtle on my first cast!

This was not the first time that I got something rare on my priest, not even aiming for it. While needing excessive grinds on my main to get these things. While I was farming argent dawn reputation on my priest, I got the baron mount. While I was farming hydraxian reputation on my priest, I got both thunderfury bindings.

Still waiting for the Geddon binding on my main. After the bloodsail reputation change got announced, I went back to fishing which I gave up some months ago. I was already fishing for a couple of hours on the frozen sea, when I read here about lake kum'uya. And guess what happened. I got the turtle after 5 minutes. Comment by Fuzznut Some might even call it a Discworld. Comment by can it drop from the dalaran pool? Comment by munkyv22 Just caught mine in Scholozar Basin near where you do the Shango tracks quest.

I was fishing for him for about 2 days. Just keep at it. Comment by Orangemilk This took me about 6, casts. The best advice I can give is to start out by making this a long-term goal, and don't try to knock it out in one sitting.

I put over 60 hours into this personally. That's at least a full week of work with a ton of overtime! Spread it out and work on several achievements simultaneously. Your sanity will thank you. Comment by xanthax Apparently, you can catch this in the new zones too. A guildie just caught one from a fishing pool in Mt.

Came from a Mountain Trout school. Comment by Confirmed that Lund Fishing Boats For Sale Canada 50 Days you can get the turtle in Cataclysm zones. Since i couldnt log the first hours of the x pack login servers in eu where horrible i decided to start next day after work. Had done 23 dailies in icc and 2 dailies in SW fish and cooking. To my suprise when i eventually loged in in qeue i turned in the fish daily.. Nice way to start cataclysm i say to myself I started in mount hyjal just to get the teleporter Decided to fish it just to get some matts for leveling cooking I was shocked since RNG is never good to me hello zg mounts So there you go this turtle CAN be fished in cataclysm pools Comment by Just caught the turtle from a Mountain Trout pool in Darkwhisper Gorge, so it would appear to be catchable in the new Cataclysm zones.

Comment by rezzyk I just fished one up in a Blackbelly Mudfish school in Uldum. I was hitting the pool for the Limnologist achievement and got it first cast. Comment by Twistedklown Can also be caught in Cataclysm pools. I'm not sure if it's just the zones or all pools. I just caught mine the other day in Deepholme.

Comment by izabeL Just got this from a pool of Highland Guppy in Twilight Highland, seems like blizzard changed the drop location achievement still says Northrend pools Wonder if it can be fished from low level pools as well or only new zones pool?..

I want him! Is it all a myth? Comment by notsoholy Just fished mine up in Twilight Highlands even though the achievement says the pools of Northrend. Comment by Can anyone confirm if they have gotten him in any of the old Zones since the launch of Cataclysm? Comment by Can anyone Confirm that you can still get him in the old zones northrend Thanks! Comment by reddeffect You can get this off cataclysm pools. I got it in Uldum today! Comment by totemmunkey Despite the text stating Northrend, I was able to obtain this achievement by fishing up Blackbelly Mudfish pools in UIdum.

Comment by Mulig It seems that it is possible to get this achievement from Cataclysm pools. I just recieved my Sea Turtle from a Blackbelly Mudfish school. Comment by MetalGenocide I can see a pattern here. I too got mine off the Blackbelly Mudfish pool in Uldum. It may be a bug, so start fishing there while you can, before its fixed atleast teh mudfish are more useful then the wrath fish. I find it interesting that the achievement says to get him in Northrend. Perhaps any pool in Cata will give chances to get this sucker.

Good luck! Comment by brian Is anyone able to confirm if you can fish this up in Cataclysm pools now? The achievement text has not changed, but as per El's Guide to Extreme Anglin', you most certainly can. I haven't seen much mention of it, and wanted to confirm before I began farming. Please feel free to downrate after answering. Comment by Guild mate got this fishing in Deepholm last week. Comment by Just fished out of a Blackbelly Mudfish pool in Uldum 50, Got the nice little achieve.

Definitely does NOT need to be in a Northrend pool despite what achievement says. My assumption is this was either a fortunate bug, or Cataclysm pools will have the drop chance, too. Comment by chick just an fyi.. Comment by Vaufe Can confirm that this does drop in Cata zones as well. Fished it up this evening from a pool in the main lake in Uldum. Comment by The achievement says from any pool in Northrend. I, however, just fished this up from a highland guppy pool in Twilight Highlands.

So it seems any Northrend or Cataclysm pool will work! Comment by So just to ask if I get the turtle mount on one character can I get it on another one? Comment by Putrid Got this fishing Blackbelly Mudfish in Uldum after a guildmate confirmed it dropping in places other than northrend.

Farmed for about an hour. Comment by VirtualPlay Confirming again this drops off any Cata pool; just got mine off the southern coast of Twilight Highlands, from an Algaefin Rockfish pool.

Kirin Tor; AM server time. Hyjal after about an hour of farming. Comment by svizsu It can be caught in mount hyjal too from a mountain trout school. I did it three days ago. Comment by Scivar Fishing pool doesn't need to be in Northrend, I just got the turtle from a pool in Uldum. Comment by Octinomos You apparently missed a very subtle pun. Comment by jeanray As so many people has posted before me, this can be caught in the new cata zones. I got mine at fishing from a mudfish pool in Uldum.

Happy hunting : I'm guessing the achievement will be changed on next patch, as the clientside achievements can't be hotfixed. Take guild cauldron as an example, it still says 10, flasks even tho its been nerfed down to And no, its not bind to account who gave you that idea? Comment by esememon As of the latest PTR build for patch 4.

Though, it could just be from the datamining of what has already been shown to be true through the plethora of comments here. Comment by Woke up, told girlfriend about the change to the turtle being added to catacylsm zone pools, she logged on, fished 1 pool in uldum with fishing and got it, FML. Comment by I got it yesturday in "Twilight Highlands" in a fish pool on the middle of the map at the waterfall! Comment by sugarzombie i got this achievement while fishing pools in rivers of twilight highlands i.

Comment by Just wanted to point out that I fished this up right outside of Ramkahen in Uldum today. Comment by Can someone confirm if it drops from fathom eel swarms in tol barad?

Comment by Been farming Fathom Eel Swarm pools for quite some time now, still no luck whit the turtle :. Comment by ok soo i was fishing in uldum to get volatile waters to make true gold.. Comment by kabakoneko I would like to happily report that I just fished this out of a Highland Guppy pool in Twilight Highlands.

Circling around Loch Verrall gave me constant spawns of the pools. I've heard a rumor that these pools disappeared after you completed all the quests in Twilight Highlands and I happy to also report this rumor as false. Comment by Vivimord See the Turtle of enormous girth! On his shell he holds the earth. Comment by WOOT! FIshed it up in Uldam from a blackbelly pool. It was my 3rd cast. Great thing about this was my guild was holding a fishing contest. First member to fish up a turtle after the cata release wins 5k gold.

Comment by Remp Today, I've decided to fish up this little devil It's a really good place, no mobs at all, and players don't really fish here. I haven't met any yet. Fangtooth Herring schools spawn here, really quickly. I go a big circle around the lake, and when I get back where I started, all of the schools are waiting for me to fish, again. I'll update my post and the stats when I catch it. Hopefully, Dark Herring will drop with it, too! Still can't catch it. Will continue later Comment by 08Jacob As of patch 4.

Comment by Blinndox Just a quick note, a guildie of mine caught this in a pool in Twilight Highlands, so I'm assuming it's not limited to Northrend Pools.

Comment by I didn't see it mentioned here so in case someone is wondering, the turtle can be fished from pools in Tol Barad Peninsula. I received it yesterday fishing for fathom eels. I wasn't expecting it since the updated achievement makes no mention of Tol Barad. It was a pleasant surprise. Comment by Crooklyn This can be fished from the Tol Barad Peninsula pools even if the new tooltip doesn't mention it.

Comment by madman19 As of Cataclysm, the turtle mount can also drop from pools in the high level cata zones Twilight Highlands, Uldum, Mt Hyjal, and Deepholm in addition to Northrend.

Vashjir isn't included. Kinda ironic, isn't it? Almost all casts were made to cata pools from skill 1 excluding some fishing dailies. Comment by stepen I got mine in Uldum. Fishing skill was at Comment by I can confirm it can be fished from a pool in Tol Barad.

Just got mine a minute ago in Tol Barad Peninsula at 65, Comment by Stealthed Can the turtle be caught from Pool of Fire? Comment by Lepertum Any reports if this can be caught in Tol Barad? The achievement does not mention it but descriptions aren't always that accurate. Comment by Yes this mount can be fished up from pools in Cataclysm zones.

I believe it was changed as early as Cataclysm release but achievment text was changed in patch 4. Two days ago I equipped my pole and cast it on an Algaefin rockfish pool in Twilight Highlands and boom. Comment by Finally got this today after fish caught total in Northrend and Cata zones. Last one I needed for mounts too. Anyone else confirm this as well? Comment by Has there been any report of a droprate change for this?

A guildie and I have been fishing for this mount since Wrath, and we both just got it in Uldumn Fathom Eel pools on the southern coastline less than an hour apart from each other. Got the turtle on cast 19, and the "one that didn't get away" Going to buy me a lottery ticket!

Comment by wowaddict Highland Guppy pool. Comment by kotsas As today, I can say that they have increased the drop rate. After casts i got my turtle. Unfortunatly no dark Herring yet :p. Prolly They've indeed increased the drop rate, according to other reports about k cast. Comment by My guild has a whole bunch of Achievement Junkies!

I got mine an hour ago in Uldum. Comment by Got mine two days ago while fishing fish for agi food in Uldum, seems like people are getting it there mostly in Cata,. Comment by Loonatek After i farmed for this like crazy in LK in herrings pools now in cata i didn't bother for it.

I was just killing foxes for that pet and i saw a guy saying that he's bored of killing foxes so he kills just 50 a day. Myself i killed 2k foxes already and i said, hey that sounds like me. So i started doing this and i also added this to fishing in org for the rare fish and in uldum for the turtle. So 50 foxes 50 casts in org and 50 casts in agil pools fish and tank food. So it only took me casts in org and about in uldum.

Dunno but this seemed a lot easier than to spend 1 full day fishing like i did on the herring. Uldum is definetly the zone to get this from.

Comment by twilightsamus I just obtained the turtle after five Mountain Trout schools in Hyjal while passing through for Archaeology hotspots. I'm not sure that I would recommend these pools because I'm fairly sure I was simply blessed by the RNG gods to catch one so quickly, but it wouldn't hurt to try because it only took literally five pools. Comment by redheadsRbetter Remp. Comment by Just caught my sea turtle mount. I spent 15 days and over 6, casts going after it.

I recommend Uldum and especially Tol Barad, lots more pools in those two; and in Tol Barad if you fish the ship-wrecked wreckage you get a lot of embersilk cloth, which is hard to come by, and you still maintain your chance at catching the turtle mount.

Tried the frozen sea. I got to the point of being so frustrated I thought to give up and even began muttering to myself, so much time was spent. Then was headed into Dalaran, and saw some pools of Glassfin Minnows in the streams at Crystalsong Forest, so set down and fished one, then started my 2nd, saw something blue caught and then the achievement! Got it! I actually felt so good and relaxed after catching it and learning the mount it was amazing. Comment by Been fishing all day for this and just got it.

Started about pm fishing in howling forge around the lake like most comments here. I was fishing fishing and fishing then i was reading these comments again and saw that someone tracked it and got it the first time.

So i tracked it and on the first node 2nd cast there was the Sea turtle. So thanks and hopes this helps someone. BTW, Grizzly Hills does have alot of pools that collapse together. Happy fishing! Comment by Smrtak Farmed it for 5 hours today and still nothing. But hey I've been wrong before. Comment by itsraining i got 3 Dark Herring in 2 days and still no turtle for me : winter's breath lake!

Comment by So is there any proof that a turtle has been fished from cata pools as of yet? I have been fishing this damned ole thing since wrath and still no luck, as with my rat in dal.. If anyone has any ideas i am open to them. Comment by Since cata, supposed to be cata fishing pools. Comment by Esploratore Well, this was a really long grind.

I started like 2 weeks ago, with 1. I stopped as at the time I was also looking for rares like jadefang in deepholm, so I had to camp. The thing that made me start again was that a guild mate of mine got it after like casts, without even looking for it; I saw it with my eyes, the envy was TOO much!

Started fishing the same night for 2 hours, and the following days for hours each one. The places I chose were mostly borean tundra, grizzly hills, howling fjord, uldum. I did over 2. I did many complete laps around uldum, with like casts a session, I fished even in other areas, like other northrend ones and in twilight highlands, but not so much. In northrend I mostly fished in land water, I even got the dark herring from the big lake in howling fjord, winter's breath lake, with like casts.

I also did a lap all around northrend, fishing for 3 hours from the not in land water, and nothing. I even used the lake in borean tundra that has a very fast pools respawn, and nothing. After days of fishing, and over 4. I saw something over the usual blackbelly mudfish, and though: "Ah, sea turtle As many said, don't give up if you can't get it after casts, you'd have to be really lucky for it, the average seems to be 3.

Even if you get past that keep fishing, you'll get it eventually. By the way, not worth it at all, really slow compared to what I was expecting in water, but worth it for the satisfaction, revenge and victory against the unluck!

Comment by VioletPisces I attempted this achivement pre-cata in Northrend with no luck, easily more than casts over a couple of days while working on other fishing achivements. I caught my turtle today in a Blackbelly Mudfish pool in Uldum. Under 40 casts and I wasn't even trying for her. Comment by hannibalektr This does not swim very fast, I was extremely disappointed. Got mine in Northrend fishing pools on the shore of Howling Fjord. No mount no Dark Herring. Spent 3 hours at the lake in Borean Tundra.

No mount. Then pools here and there when i was around them. Still no luck. I was talking to a personal friend outside of the game about farming it with no luck. She told me where her dad had gotten his, and that his friends had gotten it there as well. So while i was sitting in Org i figured why not, Ill give it a try.

Second pool, Second cast. Good luck guys! Comment by 13, fish and other things caught after many multi-hour fishing sessions i just randomly logged on and said what they hell ill go fish some. Comment by dwhipkey I was chasing this right before CATA came out but stopped until about a week ago. I'm in a small guild and no one else was fishing so I decided to chase it again and help get the last cooking recipe.

I rotated in the Northend pools so I could also gather the fish needed for "fish feast" so the guild can also use up old Northend seasoning and work toward the guild achievement for putting feasts out.

For those that wonder, it actually does still drop in Northend. Comment by D4rKn3ss92 Hi, I've fished this turtle for a month or more, but i never catch it! You must be very lucky people to catch it! This turtle has a very low drop rate. Comment by Ok first of all, I don't really like people posting uninformative threads but I am so thrilled that I got this today I couldnt help myself posting this!

I just got this on my 8th cast ever in northrend! I fished in a glassfin school. To all others who are still farming this, good luck! Hope a little bit of my luck might rub off on you guys :. Comment by creamyonions I had a guildmate get this achievement. We all cheered and congratulated them on the feat.
