Annual costs are horrendous here on the south coast and the type of boat will make a big difference. Around here shallow water is much cheaper, a deep draft yacht would be way out of reach for anyone on a fixed low income. So, a boat type that meets your local cheapest mooring will be the first question to solve. Re: ISO of plans livesboard the most inexpensive live aboard sailboat I will add a voice to the chorus of buy an old glass boat.

In the U. A wide starboard walkway provides passage to the large sectional bow sun pad, secured by high railings. On the aft deck, shaded by the extended T-top, Inexpensive Liveaboard Boats Price U-shaped bench seats surround a wood table that can recess to create another sun pad; optional teak flooring adds richness to the deck and swim platform which has a shower and a starboard telescopic ladder for water access.

When ready to go inside, a three-leaf sliding door opens to the salon. While not huge, the portside salon seating, starboard galley and wood trimmed helm station are comfortable, light and airy and an optional opening roof hatch can literally increase the airiness.

The dining table drops to create an additional berth Inexpensive Liveaboard Boats 02 when needed and the co-pilot seat back flips to face the salon for extra social seating. The forward cabin is enclosed by a pocket door and has a ventilating deck hatch and skylight; both share a separate head with wooden cabinetry, a shower, sink and toilet with a flip down cover.

The sliding starboard door facilitates solo captaining. The Beneteau Antares is a classy, speedy and nicely designed boat but options needed by live aboards affect the base price. Currently built in Poland, Beneteau plans to move production of this and other models to the U.

If you really want to impress your neighbors on the dock, it will be with your silence aboard the Greenline 33 Hybrid. Your neighbors will never hear you come and go, as the electric engine slides your boat in and out of the slip at 6 knots. On the water, the HP diesel engine will kick it up to knots and a HP option goes up to 18 knots.

The Greenline 33 is the most spacious, luxurious and biggest of the boats reviewed here and is handcrafted in Slovenia. Its electric drop down transom extends the teak aft deck to a swim platform with two cushion corner seats and a starboard drop ladder to the sea.

Wide teak side decks lead to the large bow sun pad, protected by a rail. Glass doors open from the aft deck to the spacious salon, galley and helm station where degree windows lift open, and an electric skylight adds natural light, air and flow to the outdoors. Wood cabinetry and plush upholstery welcome lounging around a central table, that of course can convert to a bed, but also has a handy insert that inverts to provide die-cut cup holders.

The starboard helm has a deep bench that folds down to expand the lounge seating. The dash includes a single Simrad screen, chart plotter, radar, bow and stern thrusters and controls for both engines.

Portside steps to the cabin and head reveal a spacious forward V-bunk master, naturally lit by skylights, supplemented with recessed lighting and storage. The main goal of these boats was to increase the appeal of their aesthetic. Like the Island Packet, these boats are more ideal for smaller couples. This boat also has an abundance of clever storage spaces that will help you maximize the space that you have.

Multi-hull catamarans can be either double or triple hulled. The benefit of a multi-hulled vessel is the stability offered as well as the possibility for separate living spaces. A catamaran offers a wide and spacious deck, however, the living spaces in the hulls are generally smaller than they would be on other vessel types.

The major disadvantage of a multi-hull option will be price. Because the construction of these boats Inexpensive Liveaboard Boats 09 is similar to building two separate boats, you should expect to pay more. In addition to a higher purchase price, these boats also might require two slips in a marina which can make them more expensive. The Lagoon is a smaller catamaran which is not the most common.

The Lagoon is the smallest catamaran in the Lagoon fleet. Unlike some other inexpensive options, these are still being produced which offers you the chance to buy new, which means that you will be more likely to customize your boat. This boat comes with a full bath and a large queen-sized berth or the chance to instead get four cabins. Stowage on this boat is impressive and it comes with many lockers and storage space.

The boat truly is impressive for its small size and will be comfortable for living in. Other Lagoon options can be more expensive but are also great live-aboard vessels. If you are looking for a more luxurious catamaran, then you will want to look at the Leopard The most inspiring part of the design of the Leopard 44 is the inclusion of two cockpits. This allows sailors to change where they steer based on the position of the sun and adds additional comfort.

This boat also provides edging on the surfaces so that you can feel where the boat ends. Attention to detail was key when crafting the Leopard Like most catamarans, this vessel is also spacious and provides comforts and amenities that will be useful when living on board.

These include multiple berths and cabins that are well suited to housing more people. If you plan on living aboard a boat without doing a lot of traveling, a houseboat might be ideal for you.

These allow for plenty of space, but are bulky and are not very efficient so they are generally used for living while moored and never actually venturing out on the water. The most common form of houseboats is built onto pontoon boats. These boats can even offer full enclosures on the deck with plenty of windows and light. Another downside to a houseboat is their price. Because these boats offer the most space and comfort they are pricey.

Houseboats can offer anything from multiple rooms to decks. They are essentially a house that floats. Houseboats are often custom designed and are not generally offered as a part of a fleet or boating line. When looking at houseboats you also have to consider location as a decision that needs to be made.

Houseboats are not designed to move so in addition to the expense of the boat, you are also often looking for a permanent place to put it, and that can be more costly than a marina or other available options. Even more expensive than the multi-hull vessel is the luxury yacht.

This is not an inexpensive option. These are the most expensive choice as they are essentially floating hotels. For this reason, we have opted out of listing options for the luxury yacht, but they are an option that is available for consideration. It is most important to choose your boat based on desired lifestyle, budget, and skill level.

If you do not want to worry about learning to sail, then you should look into the power boat options. If you plan to go down rivers often, you might not want a boat that is too wide or too tall. This can make river navigation tricky and stressful. You also want to make sure that while you are conscious about how the size of your boat is external, you allow for enough space internally.

No matter what type of boat you choose you will be giving up some luxuries and living a more minimalist lifestyle. You need to look at what your minimum size requirements will be and start there. Another thing that is extremely important when choosing is the condition of the boat. Because these types of boats are so expensive, you will most likely be looking at used options. This means that you will want to get your boat fully inspected before you buy it.

The most important places of consideration are the hull and the engine. Even a tiny hairline crack in the hull can expand and get worse over time. These are also the most dangerous because you are less likely to see them and get them taken care of.

A marine inspector will also be able to give you a rundown on the vessel and this might help you plan for future expenses and even to negotiate a better price. In addition to this, when buying a used boat you want to make sure you do not buy a boat that is exactly your budget. Maintenance will be an ongoing expense that you will have to plan for in order to maintain the integrity of your boat.

Living on a boat full time is completely possible if you know what you are doing. Or add another bank. It is great for getting in and out of marinas, but for longer trips, I use a 15 horse outboard on the back which is included. I think the impellar went out on it though.

I ran it a couple months ago and it wasn't pumping water. I would consider replacing it if I kept it this boat. I have also considered putting a diesel back in for long cruises down to mexico. All plumbing, etc. There is an 8 ft inflatable RIB dinghy that hangs from davits off the back. Great for getting around in bays when at anchor. I go to the San Juan's a lot. I was going to sell separately, but will include if full price is paid for the boat.

Offers below full price won't include the dinghy or smaller outboard. I will sell them separately to recoup some of the difference or keep it for lake fishing. Dodger seems to have been replaced with a frame that is 7" too wide. I had planned on taking a little out of the middle, but please assume that there is no canvas over cockpit. You can have the dodger that I have, but it won't fit as is. Will need to be made smaller.

Material is very good though. Hot water heater was replaced last summer with an 11 gallon stainless electric model.

Great for multiple showers. I have used it 24 hours after power shut off and still hot. I have a Honda generator that I used to run for the water heater and microwave when at anchor, and to charge the house batteries every couple days. I intend to keep the generator though. Not much in the way of electronics. I have a hand held GPS, hand held waterproof VHF, and depth finder up on deck, that are all only a couple of years old.

Refer seems to stop getting cold sometimes and then after I tap on temperature sensors inside, it sometimes starts working again. Haven't figured out if it is a loose wire, or not. There is also a small dorm sized freezer in one of the lockers.

It runs off of V. Stove is a 2 burner propane unit on gimbals. Has an oven. You can buy a used one for a couple thousand. I am currently about miles away, so it is either buy unseen, in which case I will drive there to meet after deposit is made. Or, I will be up in the area the last week of the month to show it if it is not sold yet. Feel free to email to make arrangements to see it. I intend to have it sold this month, even if I have to take less than asking price.

You can see downtown Seattle skyline from the middle of the harbor. People anchor out there all the time. There is a ferry nearby that goes to downtown Seattle. Or, it is about a 45 minute to 1 hr sail with a 10 knot wind. You can live-aboard if you make arrangements with owner of marina, but he may want a little more money. Model Catalina Beautiful customized Pelican wood doors at cockpit entry. Magic Chef 3 burner propane stove and oven. Canvass dodger on steel frames at the companionway.

Owner lives out of country and has priced the boat for a quick sale. Please call Mike anytime at Make Ocean Yacht.

Model 46 Sunbridge. Here is a beautiful Ocean Yacht 46 Sunbridge. She weighs 40,lbs dry and has an overall length of 52 feet with a This is a turn key boat loaded with upgrades and electronics. I've owned this boat for three years and it has been the most reliable boat that I have ever owned.

This boat looks and runs beautifully however I just don't have time enough to use it so I'm reluctantly putting her on the market. This is a true live aboard vessel with as much space as a two bedroom apartment.

The boat and engines have total hours and run perfectly. For perspective, Detroit diesel recommends upper end refreshing between 10, and 20, hours so these engines have a long way to go before then. The generator is a 7KW diesel Westrebeke which also runs perfectly.

Cabin The cabin is beautiful and has three air conditioners for added comfort. There has two staterooms and two bathrooms with sink, head units, and showers. The salon has a full leather couch, love seat, and recliner and all of the window shades can be lowered providing a clear view port, forward, and starboard.

The dining area converts into an additional sleeping area and the galley has a new refrigerator, a stove, oven, microwave, trash compactor, dish washer, laundry dryer, sink and waste disposal. The stereo system has speakers in the cabin, patio area, and bridge. All of the upholstery and carpeting is in excellent condition.

Deck The patio area has entrances aft, port, and starboard and the custom soft top is completely removable to create a completely open patio deck desired. The bridge has seating for 10 people and has a sun pad just up and behind the helm seats. The bow area also has seat cushions across the entire window area. Also at the helm are windlass power anchor controls and remote search light controls. Hull The hull is in very nice shape.

The gel coat is original and has a nice luster. The teak has been finished with 15 coats of varnish and should be protected for years to come. The bottom paint was refinished 2 years ago and is in good shape. The hull is damage free. All of the photos were taken one day prior to the start of this listing with the exception of the boat on stands which was taken when the bottom paint was being completed.

Feel free to Craig at with questions. Make Mainship. Model Sedan Bridge. We are selling our 40' Mainship.. Beam is Full size galley with 2 burner stove.. Vac-u-flushed commode.. Spacious stateroom..

Make Kelly Yachts. Yacht recently performed sea trial and we have logged over miles down the Potomac river from Fort Washington, MD. Haul out has been completed. The vessel received a bottom inspection including all thru hulls, shafts and props, fresh bottom cleaning and all new zincs.

The bottom of the boat was found to be in excellent condition. For haul out part of the top section has been removed and will be finished into a lounge deck. Please view pics of the haul out and you will see what has been removed. During operation the vessel performed well at all RPM ranges.

All main systems operated well, including bow-thruster, radar, auto-pilot, main engines, genset, etc. Only issues noted were GPS and fuel guages not working properly. It doesn't quite fit the owners needs so the owner is very motivated to sell. The price is set low with intent of a quick sale. Owner can assist with vessel transportation or relocation almost anywhere. Owner can also assist with modifications or improvements of vessel.
