We did a lot of research for the Blue Danube Cruise. Did the walking tour of Melk Abbey, do not miss this one, it's totally worth the extra hour to visit this amazing place. The last boat leaving from Melk to Krems is at PM, you ca get tickets by the river, no need to reserve, not crowded at all. Melk to Krems took about 2 hours, you need to change the boat once at Spitz. One boat runs between Melk and Spitz, aother runs between Spitz and Krems. Quite easy, just follow the crowd. The river bank between Melk and Krems is lined with castle after castle, vineyard after vineyard, we could not put down our camera the entire cruise.

You can make many beautiful pictures and enjoy a great sunset view.

However, if you are planning to go on a boat trip on a hot day, better don't. There is no air conditioning inside at least on MS Admiral Tegetthoff there was none. It gets as hot as well above 30C. Even in the evening, when the temperature dropped to around 27C outside, inside still helt like a hell.

It was so hot that some people got sick and we needed to make extra stop so that they would get the needed medical attention. On the trip back they ran out of sparkling water. It might not be a big issue as the offer is still wide, however, for me it was very limited as I cannot drink anything containing sugar.

Another issue for me as a tourist was smoking on the top deck. I'm not used to the fact that it is allowed to smoke in public places, especially when you do not have an opportunity to avoid it like being on a ship. Therefore we couldn't really enjoy staying on the top deck. Maybe it would make sense if they would split it in smokers and non-smokers areas?

On a hot day what better than a boat trip?? The trip itself was nice, the serving staff friendly and welcoming. However, the booking staff in the terminal could not organise a beer festival in a brewery.

Three of them serving - so 3 lines of people until one of them announces she deals only with buses.. Vienna isn't a city that you can see from the boat, so I don't think that this was a good use of our hard earned Euro, but thankfully it did provide shelter from the rain.
