The cabin, and the setting, peaceful and perfect. The facilities are great Our 13 year old seemed to be in the rowing boat more than he was on The Raft, but we all had a go, in a weekend-long 'round the island' rowing competition.

A highlight for us was the starling murmuration each night - astounding for them to be in front of us and above us, like a private show, for up to half an hour at a time, before, at some invisible signal, dropping down into the reeds for bed. We had an easy going welcome took a wheelbarrow with our backpacks through the lovely lakes and paths of the farm. Stopped on the way to chop some wood for the wood fire heated tube. And relaxed on the raft the tranquil lake with geese, ducks, storks and fish. We were surprised with the gift basket and enjoy the local goods of the east of Essex.

We had the most amazing relaxing stay on the raft. On the way were beautiful lakes and it was all kept very nicely. It was incredibly secluded and a breath of fresh air to know that no one else would be coming to see us, other than the ducks, herons, swans and terns. The Raft itself was beautifully furnished and really comfortable, the hamper we ordered was delicious and we had a lovely wander into the local town, not to mention some great rows around the lake and a well earned soak in the wood fired hot tub.

Overall it was an incredibly relaxing and really special stay. We really hope to come back one day! The raft spec is as good as we could have hoped.

The management is mildly haphazard, but this does not detract from the experience. The Raft exceeded all expectation. We were celebrating my 40th, our 6 year anniversary and were also 7 months pregnant! We fired up the hot tub and kept it going all weekend, we hadn't expected such a powerful hot shower and excellent facilities.

A wonderful lot of treats awaited us, scones, wine, smoked cheese, even a little tin of Maldon salt. The weather was perfect, we visited nearby Rubino Kitchen for Sunday lunch which was small and perfectly formed, other than that we could have stayed on the water the whole weekend watching the birdlife which provided much entertainment from the swan with attitude to the visiting mallard ducks. We had a wonderful, relaxing honeymoon break on the raft.

Our expectations were completely exceeded. The only thing missing really was an oven, but the gas stove and the BBQ meant that you could still be relative creative in your cooking if you wanted to be. All the home comforts were there, including a lovely welcome hamper on arrival.

The location was also incredible - we sat on the deck and watched the sun go down while we floated about on the lake, we fished, rowed, walked around the fishery, had a lovely lunch at the cafe on site and all completely undisturbed by anyone, aside from a family of swans. If you want to do a little fishing the lake if full of fish. The Raft itself is lovely and comfortable especially the bed we slept better than we had for years. The wildlife was amazing as saw my first Monkjack plus swan came onto the decking and tapped at the door which made my day plus made some great photos which are now on my Facebook.

Don't bother taking any of your own toiletries as that's all provided. There is no plug socket so don't bring a hairdryer. There is a usb charger which came in very useful for charging phones. I booked this for my husband for our 10th Wedding Anniversary as a surprise, knowing that he loves the outdoors I thought this could be perfect for him and right up his street.

We rowed the boat, enjoyed the hot tub and struggled to saw logs - which made us laugh. We used the ferry platform to get across and you soon get used to this. It was great fun cooking outside, fry ups have never tasted so good. Shower and toilet are partly exposed to the elements but again this is part of the fun of glamping.

There is an abundance of wildlife which is entertainment in itself, even our boys enjoyed it and coped well without technology. The Raft is such a unique place to stay and we'd love to stay there again and would highly recommend it. After seeing the raft on a recent TV programme we booked a two night stay at the raft for my husbands birthday.
