Definitely worth to stand on the deck and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If you are in the area and have the Hakone pass then you might as well as it forms part of the tourist route along with the cable cars. As for the boat ride, the views are quite nice but nothing breathtaking in my opinion.

We went first class so that we could see the views from the top, I have no idea if the standard tickets also let you go above deck.
