Paul is one of my favorite people. He is really just good as gold, and will shoot you straight. I recommend him highly, especially for Merc work. He is very customer focused, he worked with my and my goofy schedule on my motor, actually had it done ahead of schedule and when I needed it and told him I needed it. He's not the kind of guy you hear people post bad stuff about how he screwed them over like we see here every so often.

And his machinist is so knowledgeable. Paul says he can fix anything. I really wanted to do the work myself, but I had to move and just couldn't do it, so I called him, we talked, and then I dropped off my junk, and he turned it into gold.

It would run close to 68 on old powerhead with a 24p Fury, which is probably one of the best props out there for a bass boat and tourney fishing. One of these days I am going to pull everything out of it, take off the troller, just have one battery and see what it will do.

I think it will easily do 70, maybe more. I'm lie you bud. I dumped everything outta my Tidecraft the one with the same basic bottom as the hydrstream and I run my best number ever. The first picture is a Bumble Bee V. The second is a Stratos Pro XL. The Stratos was a "special layup option" and the bottom was worked by Alan Stinson himself. I ran the same "slightly" modified 2. The Bumble Bee ran a best of I sent a ton of mph boats back to the trailer with these two.

I know though sometimes getting older VCR tapes converted into a format to post can be difficult. After they started to fuss about no trolling motor, batteries, etc. I finally took an old OMC troller I had and gutted all the magnets, armature, and steering and mounted it on the boat. I got my Interstate battery rep to get me two empty trolling motor battery cases and strapped them in the trays.

I ran into a 21' Bullet driven by a visiting pro angler last time at the dock on Duval. It was powered by a Opti and man it was a sweet ride. Boat was immaculate -not a scratch on it. Trailer too. It was one of the yellow-ish trimmed ones. He and a buddy pulled up to the dock as I was getting ready to launch around 1 pm or so.

Yes it does immensly. Now that I know how it works I'll be able to test the circut and determine if it's the gauge, sending unit,or I've just got it hooked up wrong. I've figured out one thing, you can't just ground the gauge as you would others normally.

I believe ya gotta use one of the two black wires coming off the sender for the ground and the other for the sense if that's how it works, which tells me I have it hooked up wrong at the moment.

It does have dual "opposed" steerin' though. Something ya didn't see on a "bass boat" Hyd was still in testin' stages on tha hot rods.

Us old guys didn't like it anyway I've been told by an old racer friend that I should move one of my steering cables to the other side. I of course informed him that wa impossible unless I wanted to pull up my floor again, which, aint happening. He also told me he didn't care for hydraukic steering.

Not hard. Both cables go out tha same side. Only difference is tha location of cable racks. One goes on top of pinion shaft and tha other goes on bottom. Well, while it might make steering less stiff at high speeds, I don't drive that fast all the time. At around mph it steers almost as easy as my truck does. It's only when I get in the upper 70's that steering gets a little hard. But even then I can easily control my boat and of course, I let off the throttle when making turns.

I'll wait til my next re-power and get a hydraulic unit. If I can swing it I'll take my time rebuilding it while I run the motor that's on her for the next year and there's also the XB21 I'm looking for for my next project. I did just recently aqquire myself a new digital wireless Motorguide V75 trolling motor.

As you may know from reading the threads on here, I have an 86 kevlar hull Shadow 20' 8" Tunnel Vee powered by an 86 XP looper. My boat was also built in Friendsville Tennessee. On the Starboard side just after the large "Shadow" logo mine has a name too faded to make out and inderneath it it says "Worlds Fastest Bass Boat" also a bit faded but I expect it to come out more when I start buffing.

This is only on the drivers side. I'd really like to hear if your Father can shed some more truthful light on my boat's history? I'd also be much appreciated if you'd let me know if the notch in the rear between the transom and pad on yours is vented with your rear livewell overflow exit as most Shadows newer than mine I've seen are mine's not vented and it seems like I get stuck to the water for a few moments when planing off, so I'm thinking of putting a vent in.

Right now my rear livewell overflow exits on Starboard side underneath the "S" on logo. Triton too but haven't had chance to run it yet. With my 4 blades I get mid to upper 70's. Oh, if you don't mind I'd like to see some photos of your Shadow especially your bilge area if you can?
