I have never understood why everyone says don't name your boat. If you are paying for it and you want ot name it go for it. If you are afraid of what people will think or say about you when you name it then don't name it.
It is all a matter of personal opinion. I am spending near 50k for my boat so if I want to name it then I will put the lettering on the back and name it. Most wakeboard boats will never see the ocean so the need to communicate with the Coast Guard or other vessels by radio is not needed. However yuppies have latched onto the idea and choose to make up some cute name for their vessels. I think it is usually the woman but who knows. In the absence of a practical purpose, naming stuff is just a silly vanity thing.
