Your motors and exhaust can't be flushed while still in the water and the salt will cause corrosion to start much faster than with fresh water.

I'd also not recommend bottom paint. It will reduce the top speed of your boat and also reduce the resale value when you go to sell the boat. Find a dry stack or trailer it if you want it to last. I have only owned jetdrives and as a former mechanic it is Are Yamaha Boats Good In Saltwater 95 the reason of my decision.. I just can't imagine owning a stern drive.. Jet boats are at a slight disadvantage from galvanic corrosion than other more traditional boats due to there running gear being always below the waterline. This is a big problem in salt water because the salt acts like an electrolyte.

The drives on the boats are unpainted aluminum which is pretty low in the anodic index. Matter in fact it only slightly better than zinc. Zinc is an anode and therefore when a metal is present that is higher on the anodic index more cathodic a elecric connection is made and the zinc basiclly erodes as its electrons migrate to the cathode. Since alumiun is only slightly better this is why you will see more pitting on aluminum drives compared to other drived of different metal like bronze.

And since these boats arent exactly built from the factory with tons on zinc plates all around the running gear I would not personnaly keep it in the water. Plus if you are in an area that is prone to zebra mussels then it is going to be rough removing them from the intakes.

I often launch my boat on Friday and retrieve it on Sunday. During this time at a salt water dock, I flush it after every trip using the tow valves. The only concern is the exposed drive componets. They still look relatively new with no pitting as I clean and coat them when on the trailer. I also keep the throttles in full reverse to keep foreign objects and fish out.
