Date of experience: February Thank you for your review of your cruise. I am glad the whole family enjoyed their time on the Kuranda Riverboat. Mensaje del presidente Donald J. Did you like this? Share it! I will be meeting them in less than two weeks, when they land in Bangkok. All in all, there are currently thirteen Travel With Alan groups traveling around the world, on three different continents! Hello again from sunny Seattle. Added: Summer is trying to make one last appearance.. This last week, both our 3-night and 4-night Pacific Northwest cruises, aboard the Explorer of the Seas, came and went.

Everyone seemed to have a really great time. Two days ago, our group left for their over two-month long cruise and tour from Seattle to Sydney, Australia. Added: The sun is out and it seems that summer is trying to come backbut then we are quickly reminded that the summer has faded away and cooler times are ahead.

We plan on offering the same programs next summer with the great pricing and all of the perks that we have been offering the last few years, like the shore excursions on the ship and the extra meals and tours on the land portion.

We received glowing reports from this cruise. Everyone enjoyed the food, service, and the activities and entertainment. A popular favorite was the ice skating show, with its international all-star cast. This group returned on Monday, back in Seattle. This group will be returning today.

The group flew in and spent one night at the Embassy Suites Hotel. It was nice to see most of our group members at the dinner, all excited about the big journey that was ahead of them. I will see them again in two months, when they return from their big journey. I keep getting these deals that are too good to pass up! Once they got to Seward, the groups split. Kathryn and Allan stayed on with the group doing the 7-day land tour to Seward, Anchorage, Denali and Fairbanks.

I flew up to Anchorage and met the group that was doing the 4-day land tour to Denali, and Anchorage. Both groups had great weather and saw LOTS of wildlife in Denalibears, caribou, moose, and even porcupines! They had a fantastic cruise from Copenhagen to Greenwich. Most of the group flew home just three days ago. Meanwhile, on September 2nd, our last group of the season left on the ms Westerdam for our last Alaska cruise tour of the season.

Today they will be traveling from Denali to Fairbanks. They are reporting great weather. Their tour leader, Nansea, reported that they could actually see Mt. Denali the whole way on the train ride from Anchorage to Denali! This group is hoping to get a glimpse of the Northern Lightsthe conditions seem to be right!

We expect to be announcing our departures to Alaska sometime in December or January. Watch out for these and call right away, if you want to gothese sell out quickly.

Hello again from a gray and cool Lynnwood, Washington. Meanwhile, the rest of the group, that is sailing this week on the ms Noordam will be off on their 7-day land tour to Seward, Anchorage, Denali National Park, and Fairbanks.

Today, both groups are together, on the ship, in Glacier Bay National Park. Our other day cruise tour group, led by Paula and Dan, returned home yesterday. The group had a great time and saw a lot of wildlife in Alaska.

It sounds like they all had a great time! Today, our group is boarding the Azamara Journey for their two week cruise from Copenhagen to London. Hello again from warm but smoky Lynnwood, Washington.

Added: The smoke from all of the forest fires in Washington State and British Columbia is blowing right at us. Fortunately, the wind patterns are due to change in a few days, so the skies and the air should clear. As usual, we have two tour groups in Alaska this week.

Then, they turned around yesterday and started all over again. Our other group completed the cruise portion of their tour on Sunday and they are now on their 7-day land tour, across the Alaskan Interior. Today they are making their way from Seward to Anchorage. Tomorrow they will be boarding the McKinley Explorer rail cars for their trek from Anchorage to Denali. This year our groups are reporting seeing a lot of wildlife right from the train.

Hello again from warm but hazy Lynnwood, Washington. Added: During this past week, one of our groups returned from their Avalon river cruise, and another group returns today from their river cruise.

We currently have two groups in Alaska. Finally our groups are still cruising around Northern Europe. Our Seabourn group is in its last five days of their Norway and British Isles cruise, our Azamara group is in its last five days of their Romantic Baltic Voyage, and our Voyage of the Vikings group will soon be returning to Boston, by way of Greenland and Iceland..

Added: As I am writing to you today, we have tour groups all over the world. We have two big groups in Alaska. One group is just at the beginning of their week-long trek from Seward to Anchorage, to Denali, and Fairbanks. The other group just boarded the Noordam on Sunday I was down at our Renton hotel to help load the buses and are cruising up the Inside Passage towards Seward. Our Voyage of the Vikings cruise is still sailing in the North Atlantic.

Five days ago we had a big group fly into Budapest for their Avalon river cruise to Amsterdam.. Added: As usual, we have two big groups in Alaska this week. One group is sailing up the Inside Passage and is in Ketchikan today.

Our other group completed the cruise portion of their tour on Sunday and are in Denali today. I received a report this morning that they are having fantastic views of the mountain. Once again, we sold-out in record time. We now have four departures for this cruise and tour, with over Travel With Alan travelers onboard, between the four departures.

Hello from gray and cloudy Lynnwood, Washington. Yes, we are busy! Added: Our Alaska season continues in full swing. The weather for both of these groups was picture perfect.. Everyone has been reporting beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife!

Here at Travel With Alan, it is definitely Alaska season. Our Fairbanks bound tour left a week ago and cruised for seven days from Vancouver to Seward. Yesterday they left the ms Noordam and began their 7-day trek across the Alaskan interior. Last night they had our famous chicken dinner in Seward and today they are en-route to Anchorage. Yesterday, I was at our hotel in Renton, helping to board our new group on their buses to Vancouver.

I will be returning there next Sunday, to do it all over again! Added: I hope you all had a happy 4th of July holiday and a happy Canada Day for our Canadian friends. On Sunday, I was at our hotel in Renton, helping to board our new group on their buses to Vancouver. Hello again from beautiful Lynnwood, Washington Added: We have groups coming and going from Alaska.

Meanwhile, our other group left the Westerdam on Sunday in Vancouver and is on their 3-night Denali and Anchorage adventure. They also reported perfect weather and lots of activity at the glaciers. Yesterday morning, I was in Renton, near Sea-Tac airport, loading our buses for yet another Alaska cruise tour.

Today they are cruising the Inside Passage, at the very beginning of their day adventure. Meanwhile, our Azamara Baltics and Russia voyage group just returned a few days ago. I met the group that had been sailing aboard the brand new Seabourn Ovation.

Some had been sailing for 28 days, since Lisbon, Portugal, and the rest had been sailing for 14 days from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Everyone reported having an outstanding time. A couple of people told me that on a scale of 1 to 10, this was an 11! After the group left the ship, we had a 2-night post-cruise package in Copenhagen. From the pier, we left on a city tour including a canal cruise. We then checked into our hotel, right in the heart of the city.

On Monday, our group flew out of Copenhagen; some early in the morning and some later in the day. I flew home on Tuesday and arrived back in Seattle in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. What an amazing ship! This ship carries just guests, in all suite accommodations, and travels all over the world. We had a fantastic afternoon aboard the ship, getting a chance to tour the ship and some of the staterooms and all of the public areas.

We left the ship, by tender boat, in Lake Union and then returned to the office. It was an amazing day. Hello from super-sunny Lynnwood, Washington. Added: Summer is finally hereYAY!

Wow, what a week. That group is now on the ship with NanSea. Today they were in Ketchikan and tonight, after sailing away, they will have their Travel With Alan cocktail party. Within the last week, we also had our group leave for Copenhagen for their Stonehenge and Baltic cruise. We had another group leave for London for an Azamara Baltic and Russia cruise. On Thursday, I will be flying to Copenhagen to meet our group finishing up their Seabourn cruise from Lisbon and Amsterdam.

This is the group that I met in Fort Lauderdale, Florida three weeks ago. Everyone is reporting a great time and a very interesting trip. Our Azamara Journey group is in the middle of their three-week cruise from Rome to Lisbon. Meanwhile, a new group will be flying over to do the cruise from Amsterdam to Copenhagen. I will be flying over to Copenhagen in a few weeks to meet the group and coordinate their tours in Copenhagen.

Good Morning from cool but sunny Lynnwood, Washington. Added: It's been another busy week here at Travel With Alan. Aside from having good weather, they saw all of the scenes of the Alaskan coastal towns and glaciers, but they also spent a night in Seward, a night in Anchorage, two nights in Denali National Park and two nights in Fairbanks.

They had some great tours, rode in the McKinley Explorer rail cars on the Alaskan Railroad and much more. They had a very early wake-up call in Denali for their Tundra Wilderness Tour, but they were rewarded with lots of wildlife sightings.

Also, in the past week, our last Russian Waterways cruise group returned from their river cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Another our groups returned from their three-week Azamara cruise from Rome to Lisbon. Tomorrow, we have a group that will fly to Copenhagen for their 4-week cruise around the British Isles, including the summer solstice at Stonehenge and then continuing on to the Baltic.

Lastly, our group that flew to Lisbon, nearly three weeks ago, for their back-to-back cruise aboard the brand-new Seabourn Ovation completed the first half of their cruise two days ago in Amsterdam.

Part of the group spent one night in Amsterdam and flew home. Then, another group flew in to Amsterdam for the second half of the cruise. Twelve days from now, both groups will finish their cruise in Copenhagen.

I will be flying to Copenhagen to meet this group for our two-night post-cruise package in Copenhagen. We will have a city tour, a palaces tour, an evening in Tivoli Gardens, and a farewell dinner. Happy Thanksgiving! Added: Greetings from cold and rainy Seattle! Then, on Friday morning, our new group started to arrive for their one-night pre-cruise overnight before their Caribbean cruise aboard the Seabourn Odyssey.

The group arrived throughout the day and into the evening. The next morning, while my group was having breakfast at the hotel, I left to go to Port Everglades to meet the group just returning from their night Caribbean cruise aboard the Seabourn Odyssey. I met the groups and got everyone on their buses to the airport.

I then return to the hotel to begin the transfers from the hotel to the pier. I then returned to the hotel for an afternoon meeting before transferring back to the airport for my flight home. It was a very quick turn-around but I got to meet a lot of very happy Travel With Alan travelers!

Everywhere we go, we are told that summer never came this year?.. They keep forecasting rain but it never comes. I left Seattle last Tuesday and flew to Copenhagen via Toronto. After clearing Customs, it was a short walk to our hotel, the Copenhagen Airport Hilton.

I had a day to rest up before beginning to greet our arriving group members early the next morning. Throughout the day, about Travel With Alan group members arrived and checked into the hotel.

My partner in crime, NanSea, arrived with the group and we spent the remainder of the day at our? Travel With Alan? The next day, after a leisurely morning at the hotel and enjoying the hotel? Meanwhile, about more members of our group began arriving and transferring directly to the ship. That afternoon we all got settled in, getting ready to begin our Northern Europe adventure!

The next morning, we were already in our first port of call, Kiel, Germany. That day we had a tour to the historic town of Lubeck. We then returned to the ship for an evening aboard the Eurodam, followed by a full day at sea. After the sea day, would have six days in port, so we took advantage of the sea day to rest up for the coming days!

The next day we were in Tallinn, Estonia. I love taking groups to Tallinn, because nobody in the group really knows what to expect. Tallinn is a beautiful city with a dramatic old walled city. The people of Estonia are all very nice and they are proud to, once again, have their own country back with their independence from the Soviet Union.

Our tour began at the upper walled city. We then walked through the cobblestone streets and into the lower town. There we had an incredible lunch in an old Hanseatic warehouse, having only the natural light and candle light.

After lunch we had some free time before returning to the ship. The next morning, we woke up bright and early in St.

Petersburg, Russia. Words cannot begin to describe St. The city is filled with so many sensations from the drab apartment buildings to the opulent churches and palaces.

We had two very full days in St. The first day we had a St. Petersburg city tour and a tour of the Winter Palace and the Hermitage Museum. That evening we attended a Russian folklore show, with amazing dancers and acrobats along with a tour of St.

Petersburg by night. The next day we had a full day tour of both Catherine? It was a very full day and we made it back to the ship just in time for our sail-away! The next morning, we woke up in Helsinki, Finland.

Here we had a fantastic half-day tour visiting some of the city? We also had some free time at the Market Square. After the long days in St. Petersburg, everyone enjoyed the shorter, more leisurely tour! The amazingly good weather has followed us throughout our voyage. Everywhere we went, the local guides were saying that they have been waiting somewhat impatiently for summer to come, after the long hard winter, and it is finally here!

We have been very fortunate! Now we are in Stockholm, Sweden. Next week I will continue to update you on our adventure! Meanwhile, our groups have been coming and going to Alaska all summer.

As I speak, we have over Travel With Alan travelers on our day cruise tour and our day Alaska cruise. Update Added: Dear Traveler: I? This summer we have over people going on a sea and land tour of Alaska. I hope to be able to repeat these programs next summer, with all of our extra tour and meal inclusions.

If you missed out on these land and sea tours this year, be sure to keep watching our e-mails! Currently, Travel With Alan has groups all over the world. We also have two large groups beginning and ending their river cruises in Amsterdam, and our group is still sailing from Athens to Istanbul on the Azamara Journey.

Today I want to tell you, finally, about my last tour. I have to say, it was one of the most scenic and relaxing cruises I have ever taken. I just loved the smaller ship?.. I love going to the ports that don? For this cruise, we left right from Seattle?

For me, and everyone else in my group, this was very easy?.. I got my parents to come on this cruise with me and help out with the group?. Our first port of call was in Ketchikan. Ketchikan is always fun. We did our own tour out to a great totem park. We then had some free time in the city. I went past the jewelry stores that line the pier and went up to Creek Street. The next day we were supposed to go up Tracy Arm to the Sawyer Glacier.

The weather was very overcast and foggy and there was a lot of ice in the water, so the Captain announced that we would be unable to go up safely to the Sawyer Glacier. Everyone was disappointed but minutes later the Captain came back on the public address system and announced that he had found another glacier up Endicott Arm.

The weather cleared there and we had a great glacier visit. The next day we were in Juneau, Alaska? Again, more jewelry stores but some great Alaska history and a tour up to the National Park at Mendenhall Glacier. On this itinerary, we stayed in Juneau until PM??

The next day we were in Icy Strait Point. This port is an old cannery town. It was fantastic. I went with my father into the port and toured the free old cannery museum. We were then walking along the water and saw a huge whale come up right next to the shoreline??. The people at Icy Strait Point told us that this happens all the time.

I have to say that I have never seen more marine wildlife on a cruise as I did on this one. We saw whales several times along with lot of porpoises.

We then had a day at sea to enjoy all of the activities on the ship. There were some great lectures from the onboard? The following day we arrived in Alaska?

I love Anchorage and the Alaskan Heritage Center there. I think that the Statendam is the only cruise ship that comes right into Anchorage. Again, we stayed late in port, until PM, giving everyone a lot of options. The next day we came into the very quaint port of Homer, Alaska. Everyone loved Homer, whether they went on a big tour, went into town, or just took the complimentary shuttle bus into the? The next day was another smaller port that hardly any other ship ever visits, Kodiak, Alaska.

This is a great island. Some took tours, in search of bears, while others enjoyed the town? The next day we went to visit the Hubbard Glacier. The weather fully cooperated and we had a great, direct view of this massive glacier.

The following day we were in Sitka. Sitka sits on Baranof Island and the scenery there is beautiful. I love going there to see the Raptor Center, where injured eagles are taken to be rehabilitated and returned to the wild. The Native dance show is always a treat too! After sailing from Sitka we had another day at sea to enjoy everything aboard the Statendam. The next day we were in Victoria, British Columbia.

Victoria has so much to do from a walk along the waterfront and Inner Harbour area, a visit to the Provincial Museum, afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel, or a tour out to the world-famous Buchart Gardens. The next, and last morning of the cruise, we docked in Seattle. Since my parents and I didn?

My parents ordered breakfast from room service and I went to join them. We then eventually got off of the ship and got our rides to go home??. It was a fantastic two weeks! June 3rd Update Added: The last time that I wrote about my travels, I was coming home from Madrid, Spain, with the last of my group of people who traveled across the Atlantic aboard the Allure of the Seas.

I was home and in the office for 4? I had people boarding the ship with me in San Diego and we joined the other in our group, who had been aboard the ship for a month, cruising in the South Pacific. We sailed out of San Diego and started making our way up the coast. The next night we got our whole group of together for a huge cocktail party!

Our newest tour director, Paula, was with me and between the two of us, we took care of the whole group! After another day at sea we had a wonderful day in Port Angeles, Washington. I hadn? Some of our regular group members who live in the area came down to the ship to say hello and twelve members of our group, who live in the area and had been on the ship for over 30 days, cruising the South Pacific, disembarked in Port Angeles.

The next morning we arrived at the Canada Place Pier in Vancouver. Our coaches were waiting for us to board our group members and take them back, south of the border, to the Seattle area. Despite a couple of delays, and one bus blowing a tire, we got everyone back to Seattle on time and in time for their flights. Paula waited for the very last bus at the airport while I rushed off to be almost on time for my father?

I checked into my hotel and then, starting on Saturday morning, the nearly members of our Travel With Alan group began arriving. When our late-night flights began arriving one after the next, it was? By AM on Sunday morning, we had everyone checked in to two different hotels.

Sunday morning we had a buffet breakfast at both hotels. After breakfast, and a bit of free time, we began transferring everyone from both hotels to Port Everglades, where they boarded the largest cruise ship in the world, the Allure of the Seas. I went aboard the ship with Norene and Richard to be sure that everything was all set up for our group. Then, on Monday morning, I flew back to Seattle!

In Seattle, I had three days in the office. I kept tabs on the group that we have around the world. Our big group is on their way to the South Pacific, after leaving to Hawaii, and our? I also worked on some of our private shore excursions for upcoming cruises and worked on some new cruises and tours??

Keep watching those e-mails! On Friday morning, I flew out on an early morning flight, beginning my journey to Barcelona. I will arrive mid-day on Saturday. Sunday morning I will be at the pier, bright and early, where I will meet NanSea. Then, shortly after that, I will meet our group members.

Some will fly home right away, some will stay in Barcelona for one night, some for two nights and some for three nights. Barcelona is one of my favorite cities in the whole world?? Update Added: It has been a pretty mellow week here in the office?? NanSea and all of her South America and Antarctica explorers just returned yesterday from their adventure down south.

She told me about a whale that breached right next to the ship and sprayed water all over. Apparently one of our group members was out on her balcony and got sprayed by the whale! The Kuranda Riverboat Sightseeing Cruise Group group ended their tour in Buenos Aires with a city tour and then a nighttime dinner and tango show. On their last day, they went to an? I am finally going to be home for a solid month??.

I flew back to Seattle on Saturday night with a big part of the group. Even our Seattle group members flew home on several flights but we all seemed to land in Seattle at the exact same time! I decided last Tuesday that, rather than flying home and then flying back three days later, I would just stay in New Orleans and wait for my group to return.

I was at the pier bright and early on Saturday morning to greet our returning cruisers. Some of the people got on buses for a city tour and then to the airport. Those with the earlier flights, who already had their city tour before the cruise, went straight to the airport. Everyone coming off the cruise reported having a great time.

They did have to skip the private island, Coco Cay, due to the high winds but otherwise, they had a great time?? Now I? I will connect to a flight going to New Orleans, where I will meet the nearly members of our group who will be coming off of the Serenade of the Seas, after their trans-Atlantic cruise from Spain.

Today I will tell you about my time in Spain, meeting the same group, before their cruise, that I will be meeting tomorrow, after their cruise.

After getting the last of my group off to their flights from Hong Kong to the U. It was a good time to evaluate our whole program and to talk about our next trip to Hong Kong. After lunch, I checked in for my non-stop flight to Beijing.

I had a nice flight, followed by a 3 connecting time. Just after midnight, I boarded my plane for the hour non-stop flight from Beijing to Madrid. Upon arrival in Madrid, I caught a taxi to my hotel. Fortunately, my hotel had a room ready for me, even though I arrived early in the morning.

After checking in, I had a long, hot shower and a nice long nap! I got up in the late afternoon and set up a new e-mail address and wrote to my friend, Keith, who is a computer genius.

I had been locked out of my e-mail account for a week as Yahoo was certain that my account had been? After trying everything for a week, Keith was able to re-set my e-mail account in a matter of minutes.

My next day was a free day to enjoy Madrid on my own. The next morning brought an early start as I headed back to the airport to meet the first early morning arrivals. We gathered everyone at the airport and then boarded our bus for our Madrid city tour. We toured the center of Madrid and had a stop at a big public market for shopping and lunch.

We then got everyone checked in at the hotel, where everyone had some free time. That evening, we all gathered for a big? The next day, we had a free morning. After enjoying the hotel? That afternoon, we went to one of my favorite Spanish cities, Toledo. We had a walking tour though Toledo, visiting the old basilica and the old synagogue.

At the end of our walking tour through this old, walled city, we crossed the St. Martin Bridge, where our buses were waiting for us. We then drove back to Madrid, stopping for a great Spanish dinner at a restaurant located inside some caves! The following day, we had a full-day tour to the 11th century walled cities of Avila and Segovia. We had a walking tour of each city, visiting their major buildings and cathedrals?..

After our tour, we returned to the hotel for a bit of time to freshen up. We then went to one of the city? The next day was our last day in Madrid. We prepared our luggage early, for the long, all-day truck ride from Madrid to Barcelona.

Mid-morning, we met our guides and drove to the Royal Palace, were we had a tour. The Spanish Royal Palaces is always one of the most beautiful and interesting palaces in the world. We then toured a bit more of the city before driving down Madrid?

We then went to the train station, where we would board our high-speed? As we were traveling in? Preferente Class? Upon our arrival into Barcelona, we were met and taken to our hotel for check-in. Everyone was pleased to see that their luggage was already waiting for them in their rooms! After getting everyone settled in, I met my cousins, who were escorting the 3-night pre-cruise group. They were in the middle of dinner in the hotel?

Next week, I will tell you about my time in Barcelona. Happy Thanksgiving Added: Today I am pleased to be writing to you from my office in sunny, but chilly, Lynnwood, Washington! I realized that I haven? I still have jet lag! The following morning, I was at the pier, bright and early, to meet my group coming off of the ms Amsterdam.

As everyone came off the ship, we had them identify their luggage, which was left at the pier to be transported to our hotel in Hong Kong, where we would be the following day. Meanwhile, everyone took their overnight bag and boarded our coaches for the short ride to the Hong Kong Island Ferry Terminal, where we boarded our high-speed Jetcat for our ride across the South China Sea to Macau.

I have been to Macau many times, but it has been four years since I have been there. The changes in Macau during the last four years were so significant that I could barely recognize the place. The big American casino companies, like MGM, Wynn, Sands, Venetian, and more had moved in, in a big way, each building a bigger and better hotel and casino complex.

Upon arrival in Macau, we went to the Macau Tower for a huge buffet lunch from the highest viewpoint in Macau. We then continued on a city tour, seeing the newer parts of Macau.

Our tour ended at the largest Sheraton Hotel in the world, with over rooms. That evening we all met at the hotel?
